Clare Events for National Heritage Week

Clare is set to play host to a bumper edition of the annual National Heritage Week.

More than 80 separate events focusing on the county’s built, natural & cultural heritage will take place once events begin on Saturday.

Dolphin watching in the Shannon Estuary, a remembrance of Brian Boru and St. Flannan and a harvest celebration in Miltown Malbay are among the events which will take place in Clare in the coming days, as part of National Heritage Week.

Guided walks, tours, family gatherings and exhibitions will also be held throughout the county, and Clare County Council says it’s delighted with the public’s response.

In Ennis, people can avail of guided tours of the Friary throughout the week and also attend a presentation on archaeological discoveries during the ongoing River Fergus Flood Relief Scheme Project.

In West Clare, an open day and a whale watching event will both be held at Loop Head Light House, while a bat walk will be held in Quin Friary.

A town walk will be held in Ennistymon, as well as an arts trail in Tulla and a bat walk in Quin.

These are just among the 80-plus events taking place across Clare from August 17th to 25th, with many of them free.
