Clare family carers could be saving the government up to 68 million euro.

That’s an estimate of the costs involved in the work provided by over 4,500 carers in County Clare, who’s work is often unrecognised and mostly unpaid other than standards carers allowance which was cut in recent budgets.
As National Carers week draws to a close, North and West MEP Marian Harkin will be in Ennis today to present certificates to carers who took part in Lifelong Learning Projects while festivities will also take place at the Clare Inn tonight and Lahinch tomorrow.
Speaking to Clare FM Marian Harkin described cuts to carers supports as a careless mistake and called for the long awaited implementation of a national carers strategy by the government.
