A Clare Fine Gael Senator says he hopes grass root members will be given the opportunity to vote at the party's selection convention next Friday.
Reports this morning suggest that only two of six candidates will be selected to run in the election here, allowing sitting TDs Joe Carey and Pat Breen to go forward uncontested at convention.

Senators Martin Conway and Tony Mulcahy as well as Councillor Mary Howard and Ger O'Halloran have all expressed their intent to run, but could now withdraw in a move that is set to anger party members.
