Clare’s Fire Service is appealing to the public to be aware of fire hazards over the festive season.
Last year the fire service responded to over 90 calls relating to car accidents and house and chimney fires over the holidays – and are urging the public to ensure smoke alarms are correctly fitted and are in working order.
In particular, the service says candles, if left burning, can pose a serious danger to homes and property.
