Concerned Clare environmentalists are to distribute leaflets to over 6,500 homes in West Clare as their campaign against Fracking intensifies.
The latest move from the Clare Fracking Concerned group comes in response to UK based, Enegi Oil securing a licence from the Department of Energy for an onshore licensing option in the Clare Basin.
Their plans could see hydraulic fracturing take place to extract natural gas from shale off the West Clare coast, a move being fought by groups across the country amid fears of implications for the local enivonment and public health concerns.

The issue is expected to be discussed by members of Clare County Council in their first meeting of the new year on January 9th.
