Clare’s Chief Superintendent says checkpoints on the border of neighbouring counties will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
It follows a relaxing of the 5 kilometre rule, with people here now permitted to travel within Clare or 20 kilometres from their home.
A meeting of this county’s Joint Policing Committee was told this week that multiple checkpoints during severe restrictions had ‘stretched’ Garda resources here.
