Clare Gardaí are warning people to be wary of bogus callers purporting to be from Eir, who are stealing money from bank accounts.
On Friday, Ferbruary 15th a man received a call from a person claiming to be from the telecoms firm, who remotely accessed his laptop and transferred a substantial amount of money from his account.
In this case, the transaction was cancelled before it went through but in another days earlier, a significant sum of money was stolen.

Gardaí say it’s crucial never to give out personal details on the phone and to hang up and ring the company back directly.
