Gardaí are again warning people to be wary of scams, after two women in Clare lost out on substantial sums of money over the past week.
In one case, a lady from Ennis had a substantial sum of money taken from her account after she gave a security code to a man who had purported to be from her bank, and who had claimed that a fraudulent transaction had occurred on her account.
In another case, a woman was pressured into sending money to an account in Indonesia, and also had withdrawals made from her account, after she spoke with a man who claimed to be working for a cyber-security company in Dublin.
Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer Sgt Triona Brooks is urging people to be alert.
