A Clare Government TD is urging those claiming the Pandemic Unemployment Payment not to lose hope, saying a reduction in the county’s incidence rate suggests restrictions are having an impact in suppressing the virus here.
New figures from the Department of Social Protection show more than 1,000 additional people have claimed the Pandemic Unemployment Payment in Clare since level five restrictions were introduced last week.
Clare now has the 7th lowest 14-day incidence rate in the country, after 13 new cases were confirmed yesterday, compared to 3rd highest almost three weeks ago.
Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has acknowledged concern surrounding the rising numbers out of work, but he’s hopeful that with a collective effort, both the economy and people’s health can be protected.
