The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher are among nation’s top five favourite heritage spots.
A new survey conducted as part of National Heritage Week the outright winner was Newgrange – followed closely by the vast limestone landscape of North Clare.
The county voted most scenic was Kerry – ahead of Clare … which homes the attraction most people would like to be named a UNESCO world heritage site – The Burren, which took almost 30 per cent of the vote …. ahead of the Historic City of Dublin on 21 per cent and the Rock of Cashel on 17 per cent.
One in three people questioned said they regularly visit heritage sites – that’s up from one in four last year … but 36 per cent of respondents said they’re dissatisfied with the level of work being done to preserve our landmarks
