The organisers of last night’s homecoming for the Clare Under 21 All Ireland Champions have responded to the criticism levelled at them.
In a joint statement from the Gardai, The GAA, Clare County Council and Ennis Town Council said the venue was traditionally used for such events; there were no reported incidents and no crowd difficulties.
But it went on to say that for future large crowd events the safety of persons will be assessed and it may be necessary to break with tradition and use another venue.
The statement comes after dozens of people contacted Clare FM’s Morning Focus claiming the venue was unsafe and unsuitable for the numbers that attended the vent.
Over 5 thousand people turned out to welcome home the team who claimed their first ever all Ireland title in the grade.
