Clare hotelliers are briefing senior members of government on their calls to retain the lower 9% VAT rate for the tourism sector.
They’re calling on Finance Minister Michael Noonan to protect the rate in next month’s budget, saying it has created 15 thousand jobs and made Ireland more competitive.

The Minister told the Dail last night that the cost of the measure outweighed it’s benefits, but at an event in Dublin today Michael Noonan said no final decision has been made.
