A 38 Clare man has appeared in court charged in connection with a fatal road crash.
Jason Gormley from Rathlinn, Castleconnell, County Limerick but originally from Ennis was charged with two counts of failing to report an accident.
Giving evidence before Limerick District Court today Gardaí said Mr Gormley was arrested at 11.25 yesterday morning in Ardnacrusha and formerly charged at Henry Street Garda station just before midnight last night.
The court was told he facing two counts arising from a fatal road crash in Limerick on Sunday night.
53 year old Aidan Lawless from Clonmel died when his car was in collision with a 4×4 jeep on the N24 at Ahabeg, Ballysimon.
Sergeant Garry Thompson said they were strongly objecting to a bail application by Mr Gormley’s solicitor Sean Elder on the grounds they belived the 38 year old was a serious flight risk
The bail application was subsequently rejected by Judge Tom O Donnell and the 38 year old was remanded in custody to appear in court again in a week’s time.
