Clare Motorists Urged to Slow Down in Poor Conditions

Galway City Council has issued a warning about potential flooding there this week.

Businesses and residnets in the Salthill and Spanish Areas are being asked to take precautions around times of high tide from tomorrow through to Friday.

It comes after last night's storms, which brought gusts of nearly 80 kilometres per hour to Clare.

The bad weather led to issues with electricity supply in a number of areas, and a short time ago around 200 ESB customers  in Ballyvaughan, near Lisdoonvarna and Lahinch and in Miltown Malba were among the 3,000 without power.

Problems here are expected to be fixed by later this afternoon.

More showers and longer spells of rain are forecast for the coming days and Sgt. Joe Downey of Ennis Garda Station says it's vital that drivers take care.
