A Clare woman who gave birth on her own as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, says a conversation around maternity restrictions needs to begin urgently.
There have been growing calls for maternity hospitals to ease current rules preventing partners of pregnant women from attending prenatal scans and births.
Kilnamona mum Ciara McGuane gave birth to son Frankie in March without her partner being present.

She has now written to each of Clare’s Oireachtas members, asking them to address the ongoing restrictions in maternity facilities.
Ciara says pregnant women are not being given a voice in the conversation around the pandemic.
