A West Clare woman has been appointed to one of the most senior positions in An Garda Siochana.
The government has confirmed the appointment of Anne Marie McMahon, who hails from Kilmurry McMahon, as one of two new Deputy Commissioners of the force.
She has been filling the role on an interim basis over recent months, and was recommended by the Policing Authority, while a Deputy Chief of the Toronto Police Service, Shawna Coxon, has also been nominted for the other vacancy as Deputy Commissioner.
