Met Eireann has now issued a severe weather warning for Co. Clare.
A status red alert has been issued in the past hour, and gusts of wind of up to 150 kilometres per hour are forecast for exposed coastal and mountainous areas.

Up to an inch of rain is also expected over the next 24 hours, which on shore seas will be high.
