Clare Has One Of The Lowest Vaccine Uptake Rates In Munster

Clare has one of the lowest uptakes of the Covid-19 vaccine in Munster.

Almost 94% of people here have opted for the jab, with only Kerry recroding a lower uptake rate in the province.

However, the banner has one of the better uptake rates nationally, with only 10 other counties recording a higher rate across the country.

93.7% of people in this county have now received the Covid-19 vaccine, according to figures obtained by the Irish Independent.

Its one of the lowest uptakes in Munster with Waterford recording the highest in the province at 98.5%. In neighbouring Limerick it’s 94.5%, while 96.2% have opted for the jab in Tipperary and 94.1% in Cork.

Of the six counties, only Kerry has a lower uptake rate than Clare at 91.4%.

But the figures, from a week ago, which are based on adults over the age of 18, show the banner county isn’t on the lower end of the scale nationally.

Despite having the highest levels of spread of the virus, Monaghan and Donegal have the lowest uptakes of vaccines with just 81 and 83 percent respectively getting jabbed.

Laois, Dublin, Longford, Cavan, Offaly, Kilkenny and Louth all have rates of between 85 and 90%.

While Wexford, Carlow, Sligo and Wicklow are at the upper end, where more than 95% opted for the inoculation.
