Clare Organisation Calls For Dedicated Language Supports For Refugees

Clare Immigrant Support centre is calling for dedicated language supports to be put in place for refugees coming here.

The Justice Minister says most of the initial 600 refugees Ireland's agreed to shelter will start arriving here shortly after EU ministers signed off on a deal to relocate a total of 40-thousand refugees across Europe.

But, they failed to get unanimous agreement on the relocation of a further 120-thousand refugees – under which Ireland will take in 4-thousand people.

Clare Immigrant Support Centre's Project Coordinator believes the english language will be at the heart of their integration into local communities.

Orla Ní Fheili says its important that the Government isn't shortsighted in its approach to education.
