A Clare Postmaster has accused the caretaker Government of deliberately attempting to move business away from Post Offices.
In letters sent out last week, the Department of Social Protection has advised jobseekers to claim their dole at banks or other financial institutions, rather than at their post office.

A recent report has recommended that Post Offices expand their business, with a current account-style service being pointed to as a solution to the potential closure of many businesses in rural areas.
Social welfare payments account for 30 per cent of business transactions at Post Offices and Clarecastle native Tom O'Callaghan says the loss of this income would be detrimental to the service.
