Clare Prison officer trial listed to begin

 

The trial of a Clare Prison Officer charged with drugs offences  is expected to get underway today.

The case against Thomas Corry from Aughrim, Scarriff who its alleged had drugs to supply to inmates is listed for hearing at Limerick Circuit Court.

51 year old Thomas Corry who worked at Limerick Prison for 30 years is facing a total of four counts under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The father of three is charged with possession for sale or supply quantities of cannabis resin and cocaine at Roxborro Road in Limerick City on the 16th of March 2009.

The Scarriff  man was also charged with possession for sale or supply, quantities of prescription drugs Alprazolem and Diazepan on the same date.

The book of evidence in the case was presented to the accused defence at a hearing last October where a date for trial was set ..and the case is listed to begin at Limerick Circuit Court later..
