Clare Pub Owner Expresses Frustration Over New Hospitality Guidelines

A Clare pub owner is expressing frustration at what he believes are unfair guidelines published for the industry to follow this summer.

Senior Government Ministers will meet this evening to finalise the plan to further ease Covid-19 restrictions, ahead of the announcement of the roadmap for the resumption of live entertainment, indoor dining and international travel.

The cabinet sub-committee of Covid will consider advice issued by NPHET, which met yesterday morning.

Browne’s Bar in Parteen doesn’t have outdoor dining facilities and have only been open for a short period towards the end of 2020 since the pandemic began almost 18 months ago.

Owner William Browne says his pub and others across rural Clare have an older cohort of clientele, with the majority of the regulars having now been inoculated.
