Clare remembers the Titanic with series of events today

Events are taking place in East Clare today to commemorate the Clare passengers on board the Titanic, which sank 100 years ago last night.

Prayers have been offered for those who lost their lives inlcuding Ennis man Martin McMahon and Daniel Keane from Cratloe, while celebrations to honour the life of survivor Mary Glynn are continuing in Flagmount.

Events began at 9.20 this morning – the time when the 19 year old woman was rescued in lifeboat number 13th from the Titanic, and locals and relatives have been sharing stories about her remarkable efforts in rowing others to safety.
