Clare Schools Score Top Marks

The pupils, parents and staff of a West Clare National School have come in for glowing praise in the latest round of inspection reports.

Officials from the Department of Education visited Clohanbeg Primary School in Cree last November and found the relationship between the 36 pupils and staff is positive and respectful with very good teaching and learning standards.

They added that the school is the focal point for both the community and the board of managment who provide enthusiastic support while the principal provides able leadership.

It recommends greater communication to parents about work achieved and further consistancy in planning for pupils with special or extra educational needs- moves the board is now undertaking.

Meanwhile a second inspection report into English studies at Saint Community School in Shannon also found good interpersonal relations between students and teachers but recommended a rethink on the existing programme for 1st years.
