More than 7.3 million euro in LEADER programme funding has been distributed in Clare in the last four years.
Figures released through the Oireachtas show more than 2.2 million was spent in this county in 2020, though that was a slight drop from 2019’s high of over 2.5 million euro.
The LEADER project helps rural communities access EU funding to direct the development of their area through community-led action.

Only six other counties – Tipperary, Westmeath, Mayo, Kerry, Roscommon and Meath – saw a drop in funding between 2019 and 2020.
More than €650,000 has been spent on LEADER project funding in Clare so far in 2021.
