Clare Senator Calls For Full Implementation Of Charities Act

Clare's Fine Gael Senator is calling on the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice to fully implement the Charities Act, so that issues arising out of the Console controversy can be resolved.

It's reported the suicide charity's founder Paul Kelly, his wife and son, spent hundreds of thousands of euro on groceries, designer clothes and trips abroad.

Part four of the act, which would give the charities regulator far reaching powers to investigate the day to day running and finances of charities has yet to be implemented.

Senator Martin Conway is hopeful it will happen soon.
