Clare’s Sinn Fein TD believes the possibility of placing the county on lower levels of COVID-19 restrictions than others in December should be examined.
The incidence rate of the virus here per 100,000 now stands at 80.0 after less than 5 new cases were confirmed here last night – its lowest for a number of months, with only 8 counties now having a lesser incidence rate of the disease.
Other areas such as Limerick, Louth and Donegal have a rate at more than double that of Clare, though it’s believed any government decision on Christmas restrictions will be the same for all counties.
Kilrush-based Deputy Violet-Anne Wynne believes Clare being put at a lower level than counties with higher rates of the virus should now be looked at.
