TDs and Senators could soon be able to express their views direct from inside Leinster House using Twitter.
The service allows users to post short messages online, and is highly popular among foreign politicians such as Barack Obama, and celebrities like Stephen Fry.
Although mobile phones are officially banned inside Dáil chambers, use of twitter could be allowed under proposals being drafted by the Oireachtas Committee on Procedure and Privileges.
