A meeting is taking place in the next hour (2pm) between Clare's four TDs and the IDA to ascertain what measures will be put in place to secure a new buyer for Roche.
The company has announced that the phased closure of its Clarecastle plant will go ahead over the coming years after attempts to transfer the facility to a global pharma services company were unsuccessful.

Clare's Independent TD Dr Michael Harty says that despite this disappointing news, he remains optimistic that something can be done to secure the future of the plant.
Deputy Harty says every effort must be made to retain as many jobs as possible in the area.
