Clare government representatives have welcomed the announcement that Ireland’s embassy to the Holy See is to reopen.
The office is one of eight newly announced consulates and embassies, but is a stripped-back version of the mission closed two years ago.

Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen, who is chairman of the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee, has described the move as ‘sensible’ while his Labour counterpart Michael McNamara says a change of approach by the Holy See has allowed this to happen.
