A Clare teenager has admitted to stealing over 26 thousand euro worth of goods from a house in Ardnacrusha last year.
The 17 year old who can’t be named for legal reasons pleaded guilty to the burglary in July of last year.
His co-accused 18 year old Jonathan McInerney of Clonile, Old Cratloe Road also admitted his part in the break in, along with another the following month.
Jonathan McInerney and his teenage co-accused admitted stealing 26,000 euro worth of jewellery and electrical goods including TV’s and sound systems from a house in Ballyfineen, Ardnacrusha on the 27th of August last year.
23,000 euro worth of the stolen goods were later recovered.
Jonathan McInerney also admitted the theft of 3,650 euro worth of electrical goods from a property at Cappantymore, Meelick on the 25th of July 2008.
Solicitor Ted McCarthy said his clients stole things they never had, adding they were attracted to them ‘like magpies to shiny things’.
Judge Elizabeth McGrath said it was beyond her comprehension how two young men with no previous convictions got involved in such a serious criminal enterprise and she expressed concern there was ‘some underlying issue’.
She sought probation reports and remanded the two on bail until September 29th.
