Clare urged to give-away to Limerick extension in “best interest of Mid West Economy”.

The people of Clare are being urged to give way to an extension of the Limerick city boundary in the interests of the mid-west economy.

Founding President of the University of Limerick, Dr Ed Walsh has told Clare FM that the Mid-West needs a strong city, with a corresponding boundary and room for expansion, as it’s currently being left behind as cities like Galway prosper.

Clare Councillors have insisted they won’t give an inch of County Clare to Limerick, though the Environment Minister is awaiting a report on what the best local government and boundary arrangements for Limerick city would be.

Professor Ed Walsh says the people of Clare need to forget about County rivalries for their own good.
