VEC’s in Clare and North Tipperary are to merge under new government plans to change public services.
Education MInister Mary Coughlan has announced the number of Vocational Education Committees will be cut from 33 to 16, by merging the existing ones.
The Tainiste said legislation will be introduced to allow for the reforms, and VECs will be stronger and better placed to provide support services to schools, in their areas.
