Clare VFI Chair Believes Late Opening Proposals Will Lead To Rural-Urban Divide

The Clare Chair of the VFI believes proposals to revamp Ireland’s late licensing laws will lead to a rural-urban divide.

The Late Night Economy Taskforce report, to be launched today, recommends extending the opening hours of pubs, clubs and off licences’.

Tourism Minister Catherine Martin has floated the idea of premises’ potentially being open as late as 6am, in line with other Western European countries.

Clare VFI Chair Charlie O’ Meara, of O’ Dea’s Bar in Ennis, believes customers are getting used to being out earlier and home earlier since the onset of the pandemic.
