A Clare village has welcomed an Australian Mayor this week.
Quin has a historic connection with a famous gold-mining region in Western Australia called Kalgoorlie Boulder.
Mayor Ron Yuryevich was in the Banner County to celebrate the contribution of Clare man Patrick Hannan to his town.
120 years ago the Quin native set off a gold rush in the area.
The Western Australian town fondly remembers him with the main street named Hannan Street, and there’s the Hannan Hotel while you can even a drink a pint of Hannan lager in his honour!
