RNLI volunteers in Clare say they're confident that efforts to teach people about water safety are making a difference.
The organisation has published statistics which show that the Kilrush RNLI crew rescued five people in their six launches last year.

It was a busier time for volunteers at Lough Derg, however, as they came to the assistance of 43 people during their 18 callouts.
That figure though is lower than in 2013, and spokesperson Eleanor Hooker thinks that's because the public are becoming more aware of the need to be safe on water.
