Clare’s Fine Gael Senator says new COVID-19 restrictions are unfortunately necessary to protect public health amid rising case numbers.
Last night the Taoiseach announced the country is entering full Level 5 COVID-19 Restrictions from last night until at least January 31st.
Non-essential retail and gyms must close and a 5km travel limit has been reinstated nationwide.

70% of the country must receive the vaccine to achieve herd immunity but this amount isn’t expected to be reached until the latter half of 2021.
Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway hopes that as more vaccines are approved, that number can be reached sooner.
