Clare’s ICSA General Secetary Says Beef Prices Not Reflective Of Demand

The Clare-based General Secretary of the ICSA believes current beef prices for farmers are not reflective of customer demand.

Prices as of this week are generally below the 4 euro per kilogram mark, with the association calling for prices to be increased by up to 12 and a half per cent.

Farmers have also called for further supports from the Department of Agriculture through the €1 billion Brexit Adjustment Reserve as they continue to deal with the impact of the UK leaving the EU.

An Irish Farmers Association delegation met with representatives from Meat Industry Ireland earlier this week to thrash out the issue.

Cratloe farmer and ICSA General Secretary Eddie Punch says it’s already a costly time of year for beef farmers.
