Clare’s Oireachtas Representatives Should Not Back ‘Discriminatory’ Redress Scheme Says Clare Pyrite Action Group Chair

The Chair of the Clare Pyrite Action Group believes Oireachtas representatives from this county shouldn’t back the new defective concrete blocks redress scheme.

Details of a 2.2 billion euro plan have been unveiled by Housing Minister Darragh O’ Brien, with 100 per cent redress provided up to a maximum of 420 thousand euro.

Clare County Council is still awaiting a decision from the Department of Housing on whether impacted homeowners here fall under the remit of the scheme.

Legislation underpinning the new plan will now be drafted and debated in the Dail.

Crusheen resident and Clare Pyrite Action Group Chair, Dr Martina Cleary, says Clare TD’s should not back the scheme when it’s brought to a vote in Leinster House.
