Clare County Council’s allocation to maintain local and regional roads for 2014 has taken a three million euro hit.
Just under 12 million has been allocated to the county council for the upkeep of these routes this year, but the figure for last year was over 13 million, while an additional two million euro was awarded to the county last summer.

For this year, over 400,000 euro has been earmarked for Kilrush and Ennis, along with just under 200,000 for small road safety projects.
Clare Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley feels it simply isn’t enough.
