The Clare Local Development Company has received funding to help set up an independent community development project for Travellers in this county.
It’s part of a one million euro investment by the Department of Rural and Community Development in pilot programmes nationwide.
Clare is one of the few counties in the country who do not have an autonomous Traveller organisation in place.

Ciara Griffin of the CLDC believes that’s one of the reasons Clare has been awarded the funding.
