Clinical Director of UL Hospitals Asks Nurses Not to Engage in Work to Rule

A senior HSE figure has appealed for nurses in the MidWest not to engage in industrial action as part of their dispute over overcrowding.

A ballot of SIPTU and INMO members began last Monday, in opposition to what they describe as persistant overcrowding at Dooradoyle, and HSE plans to address this, including extra beds at Ennis General.

Industrial action has already been called for Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and University Hospital Galway, and it is expected that nurses here will follow suit when the result of their vote is announced.

However, Chief Clinical Director of the UL Hospitals Group Dr. John Kennedy told Clare FM's Morning Focus that he doesn't think that this will be of benefit to anyone.
