Clonlara woman in court over harassing neighbours

Over a hundred residents from  Clonlara turned up to give evidence against a HSE official who Limerick District Court heard has been harassing her neighbours for years.

54 year old Lavinia O’Shea of Lisduff, Clonlara was before the court on 7 summonses relating to breaches of the peace on separate dates in 2010 and a charge under Section 6 of the Public Order Act.

State Solicitor Aidan Judge said in 2010 and for years before Lavinia O’Shea – who has a senior position with the HSE  – was harassing her neighbours, besetting their homes with emails and phone calls, making rude gestures and almost causing one young man to lose his job after emailing his employer.

Mr Judge said her actions effectively upset the entire community and they were in court – ready, willing and able to give evidence against her.

He said when Ms O’Shea became aware of a Garda investigation into the complaints, she made complaints of her own which were without foundation and Gardaí  received over 70 emails from her.

In court Ms O’Shea gave an undertaking not to communicate in any way with the complainants and to stop contacting Gardaí including Superintendent Frank O’Brien in relation to the proceedings.

The case was adjourned for a review in 12 months.
