The closure of the Budget travel outlet in Ennis town has been met with disappointment by the Ennis development forum who say the loss of jobs is not surprising considering the current economic climate.
The travel group announced on Friday that it was set to close 14 of its 31 stores across Ireland with the loss of 100 jobs, including its store in Ennis
The company has commenced a 30 day consultation process with staff to discuss restructuring of the business in the coming months with the announcement coming as the travel industry experiences a drop in sales due to more and more people decide to holiday at home
John Dillane of the Ennis Development forum says the loss of the Budget travel jobs is another sign of the pressure that the retail sector is currently under in County Clare
