Commuters Face Chaos With Closure Of Ennis To Limerick Train Line

Commuters are facing travel chaos this morning as floods at Ballycar have once again forced the closure of the Limerick to Ennis train track.

Iarnród Éireann has been forced to operate bus transfers on the route after rising water levels saw the tracks submerge at Ballycar, near Newmarket-on-Fergus.

The same issue caused widespread problems in 2016, when the closure of the rail line went on for 20 weeks, while the line was also closed for a period in 2017.

Irish Rail’s Barry Kenny expects this fresh issue to persist for many weeks too.
