The Mayor of Clare has complimented the County Council’s road crews who’ve been out gritting roads during the long running cold snap.
Councillor Tony Mulcahy has paid tribute to the seven road gritting crews who’ve been covering 580 kilometres of road network over the Christmas period including national primary, secodnary and busy regional routes in difficult conditions.
The Council has also been under pressure to replenish salt supplies as the hazardous driving conditions continue, but they’ve also been subject to some criticism following numerous minor car accidents throughout the county.
East Clare Councillor Pat Hayes says he’ll be raising his disappointment with Clare County Council as many busy roads in his area have remained untreated and treacherous throughout the holiday period.
