Computing Firm To Announce Shannon Jobs Boost

Shannon is set for a jobs boost later this morning.

The IDA has announced a press event where it's expected that a computing company will announce that it's hiring dozens of new workers.

The IDA is staging an event at the Western Business Park, where full details of this announcement will be unveiled by the Junior Minister for Business & Employment Ged Nash.

No further information has been released at this point, but Clare FM understands that the company in question is a computing services provider which develops high-end storage and networking products.

Hiring has already begun for some of the positions, and it's understood that at least two-dozen workers will be taken on board in the first phase, with this number then set to grow.

Today's announcement will be one of the most significant employment boosts in Shannon since its industrial parks were brought under the remit of Shannon Group, and since IDA Ireland took over responsibility for attracting foreign direct investment into the region.
