Concern For Irish Family Caught Up In Egypt Violence

The family of four Irish siblings caught up in the violence in Cairo believe at least one of them is now in jail.

Officials at the Irish embassy in Cairo are still trying to trace four members of the Halawa family, who were trapped inside a besieged mosque yesterday.

At least two of the siblings are believed to have been taken into military custody after getting out of the mosque, but it’s not yet known what happened to the other two.

The three women and a teenage boy are members of an Irish-Egyptian family, who’s father Hussein Hal-awa is the Imam of Ireland’s biggest mosque in Dublin.
