Concern is being expressed that the quality of rural transport in Clare will suffer, as responsibility for the service is moved to Limerick.
The National Transport Authority has taken the decision to transfer the co-ordination of transport services from Clare Accessible Transport, operated by Clare Bus, to Limerick Local Link.
The service helps those without transport living in remote parts to access services such as supermarkets, hospitals and banks, often from their own doorstep.

Clare’s Independent TD Dr Michael Harty has raised the issue with the Transport Minister, who says it’s regrettable but as it falls under EU rules, he cannot intervene.
But Deputy Harty says it’s the service users who will suffer now:
