Concerns been expressed that tourism in Clare will not be marketed to its full potential due to a lack of funding by promoters Shannon Development.
The body – which is tasked with tourism development for the Mid West recently sought tenders for the development of a major theme park adjacent to Bunratty in order to boost visitor numbers.
It was raised in the Dail by several of the county’s government TDs as legislation to ammend The National Tourism Development Authority is being debated.
Clare Labour TD Michael McNamara, while welcoming proposals to boost visitor numbers around the bunratty area – feels Shannon Development is being held back by a lack of funds.
